The museum provides an impressive tour of the history of mining in the province of Salzburg. Visiting the Montanmuseum Altböckstein in Bad Gastein, you will plunge into the past, in those times when Bad Gastein was a place of active.
What can you see in the Montanmuseum?
You can stroll through the historic village, see the following old objects:
- Laundry
- Stables
- Building of the head
- Workshop
- Kolm (depot)
Examining the inventory of gold miners and things of that era, you will feel how the past comes to life. The central place of the Montanmuseum Altböckstein is an open-air area with salt depot “Salzstadl Museum”, which is an exhibition of mountain objects from the times of gold mining between 1342 and 1945, and a small mountain settlement since 1741, incl. the church of the miners “Maria vom Guten Rat”.
