Mountain fire
The shortest night of the year is celebrated here in the Gastein Valley with an extraordinary festival: It seems as if the mountains around Gastein are on fire. As the longest day of the year slowly fades into dusk, young and old head up to the mountains on Saturday, June 21, hiking along the most remote paths to light the fires on the peaks and ridges as night falls. The valley’s associations artistically burn their logos into the mountains. The bonfires and chains of lights that stretch across the mountain peaks create a fascinating night that you will never forget!
